What does the Military Affairs Committee Do?
The Military Affairs Committee is committed to supporting the military families of Fort Campbell. It is our goal to make soldiers and their families always feel welcome in Christian County, whether they are just here to visit or have made it their home.

We want to help enhance our communities and make it the best place for military families to live, shop, relax and enjoy. From our Operation Left Turn initiatives that encourage soldiers to turn left out of the gate, to special appreciation events, we work diligently to make Christian County the best neighbor to Fort Campbell and the best home to many families.

We never take for granted the hard work, dedication and sacrifice that our military families make for our country and we believe we must always let them know that we, as a community, care a great deal about them.

Relocating to Fort Campbell?

When considering where to live after assignment to Fort Campbell, keep in mind that Active Duty Military pay no Kentucky State Income Tax! In addition, we continue to offer a low cost of living and outstanding quality of life.

With no sales tax on groceries, no sales tax on new car purchases for active duty military, and low overall sales tax and property tax rates, life in Christian County is less taxing and more relaxing.

Military Affairs LogoGetting Involved with Military Affairs

Our community has a long and proud tradition of sponsoring events and opportunities for our friends at Fort Campbell to enjoy.

Every September, we host the Christian County Salutes Fort Campbell Week that typically features the Oak Grove Family Kick-off event, a Ladies Luncheon and Tour of Homes, a 9/11 Memorial and the ever popular Chili Cook-Off. In addition, we offer a Hail and Farewell, Military Appreciation Days, Gander Memorial Ceremony, Veterans Appreciation Parade and more. With each event, we hope to help our military families feel connected and at home in Hopkinsville-Oak Grove-Christian County, Kentucky. To find out more about how you can get involved call Tiffany Quebe at the Christian County Chamber at 270-885-9096.

Become an Eagle Ambassador
People...businesses....organizations who volunteer time, talent, and resources to "give back" and thank our community's military families. It's also about people who work to grow our community by showing our military families that Christian County is a great place to live, work, and play. Operation Left Turn is the official name of this initiative, with its ultimate goal to retain and recruit military families to live in our area.

When you become an Eagle Ambassador, you help to maintain and strengthen relationships with our neighbors at Fort Campbell and their families who call Christian County home. If you have a desire to make a difference and support soldiers, this program is a great way to show your support. As an Eagle Ambassador you receive the latest information regarding Fort Campbell and its movements, are invited to social and networking functions with key leadership at Fort Campbell, and have the satisfaction of strengthening our relationship with Fort Campbell.

Volunteer and Join the Military Affairs Committee
Eagle Ambassadors are individuals or organizations that make a monetary contribution to support the work of the Military Affairs Committee. Currently, there are 180 Eagle Ambassadors from the Hopkinsville-Oak Grove-Christian County area. You can become an Eagle Ambassador for a small yearly investment of $101 for an Individual, or $250 per corporate designee for a business per year. Your generous investment will fund the multitude of projects and services of the Military Affairs Committee. Your support allows the Military Affairs Committee to continue offering excellent programs and services such as Christian County Salutes Fort Campbell Week Series, the annual Veterans Day Honor Parade, and the annual Citizens for Fort Campbell trip to Washington, DC.

Resources are vital as we continue our Operation Left Turn initiative by offering new events, enhancing community marketing efforts to other installations, and recruiting military families to make Christian County their permanent home.

To become an Eagle Ambassador, download the Individual Eagle Ambassador Form, or the Business Eagle Ambassador Form. Contact Tiffany Quebe by email or by calling 270-885-9096.

Become an Operation Left Turn Sponsor
The Military Affairs Committee has been actively working to represent our community to relocating military families. We’ve visited other installations, made a variety of presentations, sent relocation packets, purchased advertising, and worked diligently to expand our efforts on our current operational budget. We offer relocation packets to military and their families who will be re-assigned to Fort Campbell, and we promote our area through social website like Facebook and YouTube.

We continue to appreciate your support and ask you to pledge your commitment to the Operation Left Turn Campaign. With our recent momentum, we want to ensure that we are continuing to grow our initiative. To become an Operation Left Turn Sponsor, contact Tiffany Quebe by email or calling 270-885-9096.
