2016 Salute Saturday Chili Cook-Off

Each year, Downtown Hopkinsville is alive with competition among region-wide businesses and military teams for the honor of the best chili around. Teams composed of up to 6 members vie for bragging rights and several cash prizes, including the $1000 Grand Prize. Other prize categories include: 1st Place, 2nd Place, 3rd Place, 4th Place, Best Theme, and Crowd Favorite.
Military Teams are also entered to compete in the event’s Brigade Challenge. A prize of $100 per team up to $1000 total for the brigade is awarded for the brigade with the most teams participating in the Chili Cook-Off.
The Chili Cook-Off has remained an integral part of and time-honored tradition in the annual Christian County Salutes Fort Campbell Week. Additional events include military discounts from participating community businesses, the MAC Gala, Sunday Salute Services at participating area churches, and the Spouses Luncheon and Tour of Homes.
This year’s Chili Cook-Off will also be featured as a key event in the City of Hopkinsville’s Summer Salute Festival. Fireworks will complete the 2-day slate of festivities.

What does the Military Affairs Committee Do?
The Military Affairs Committee is committed to supporting the military families of Fort Campbell. It is our goal to make soldiers and their families always feel welcome in Christian County, whether they are just here to visit or have made it their home.
We want to help enhance our communities and make it the best place for military families to live, shop, relax and enjoy. From our Operation Left Turn initiatives that encourage soldiers to turn left out of the gate, to special appreciation events, we work diligently to make Christian County the best neighbor to Fort Campbell and the best home to many families.
We never take for granted the hard work, dedication and sacrifice that our military families make for our country and we believe we must always let them know that we, as a community, care a great deal about them.

Become an Eagle Ambassador
Eagle Ambassadors are individuals or organizations that make a monetary contribution to support the work of the Military Affairs Committee. Currently, there are 180 Eagle Ambassadors from the Hopkinsville-Oak Grove-Christian County area. You can become an Eagle Ambassador for a small yearly investment of $101 for an Individual, or $250 per corporate designee for a business per year. Your generous investment will fund the multitude of projects and services of the Military Affairs Committee. Your support allows the Military Affairs Committee to continue offering excellent programs and services such as Christian County Salutes Fort Campbell Week Series, the annual Veterans Day Honor Parade, and the annual Citizens for Fort Campbell trip to Washington, DC.
When you become an Eagle Ambassador, you help to maintain and strengthen relationships with our neighbors at Fort Campbell and their families who call Christian County home. If you have a desire to make a difference and support soldiers, this program is a great way to show your support. As an Eagle Ambassador you receive the latest information regarding Fort Campbell and its movements, are invited to social and networking functions with key leadership at Fort Campbell, and have the satisfaction of strengthening our relationship with Fort Campbell.
To become an Eagle Ambassador, download the Individual Eagle Ambassador Form, or the Business Eagle Ambassador Form.
'Come Home to Christian County'
The Military Affairs Committee has been actively working to represent our community to relocating military families. We’ve visited other installations, made a variety of presentations, sent relocation packets, purchased advertising, and worked diligently to expand our efforts on our current operational budget. We offer relocation packets to military and their families who will be re-assigned to Fort Campbell, and we promote our area through social website like Facebook and Instagram.
We continue to appreciate your support and ask you to pledge your commitment to the 'Come Home to Christian County' Campaign. With our recent momentum, we want to ensure that we are continuing to grow our initiative.
