The overwhelming interest that students have shown in the Hopkinsville-Christian County Youth Leadership Program has been fantastic. A group 39 students have been selected to participate in the 2015-16 Youth Leadership Class, designed to cultivate young leaders as they engage in a year long program. The program will begin with an Opening Retreat at the Dawson Springs 4-H Camp in August.
The leadership program identifies young people each year from local public and private high school who demonstrate leadership qualities and further develops their leadership potential. It provides students with a frame of reference for effecting community change, and developing within themselves a sense of community involvement and commitment to their community as future citizens and leaders.
The total success of the program is greatly attributed to the generous support of public and private school administrators, day coordinators, the Chamber of Commerce, local business and industry.
Program Coordinators are Sandy Grogan and Ruth Lynch.
