Beautification

Making and keeping Christian County a beautiful and clean place that both residents and visitors can be proud of is a top community top objective. During the past few years, several major initiatives have begun that are accomplishing just that.

Hopkinsville Beautification Commission

Mayor Dan Kemp formed the Hopkinsville Beautification Commission in 2007. The purpose of the Commission is to promote the public interest and to enhance quality of life by creating a more appealing, pleasant and inviting place in which to live, work, and play. In 2008 the Commission initiated a Yard of the Month program. Visit the Hopkinsville Beautification Commission website for information about Commission activities.

Adopt-A-Spot
The Hopkinsville Beautification Commission coordinates an Adopt-a-Spot program in which businesses and organizations adopt highly visible intersections or corridors throughout the community to landscape. Presently, 18 spots are designated throughout the community.

Yard of the Month
The Hopkinsville Beautification Commission also coordinates a yard-of-the-month in which winners are selected from each of the city's 12 wards.  View photos of the current selections or learn more about the program.

Curb Appeal Award

On a monthly basis, the Chamber of Commerce Community Enhancement Committee selects a Chamber member business to receive the “Caught With Curb Appeal” award. Spotters watch for a nicely landscaped green spaces, beautiful pots of flowers, fresh coats of paint, a new sign, a wreath on the front door, nice window displays, no temporary signs or banners, and a clean, litter-free parking lot. To date, more than 25 businesses have been recognized.
