    Hopkinsville, KY (April 22, 2015) – Hopkinsville Mayor Carter Hendricks invites members of classes 2015 and 2016 to apply for the ninth annual Summer in the City Internship Program. To be held June 1 – June 19, the internship features a $500 stipend and a letter of recommendation for interns who successfully complete the three-week program. 

    During the program, interns are also offered the opportunity to experience various facets of municipal government while receiving valuable workplace readiness and other skills. To be program eligible, an applicant must be: 

     a high school junior or senior at the time of selection (i.e., Class of 2015 or 2016)
     a Christian County resident, and
     16 years old by June 1, 2015. 

    Since its inauguration, thirty-six youths have completed the Summer in the City or other municipal internship program. 

    Up to four interns will be selected to participate in 2015. 

    To apply, pick up program application forms from the Hopkinsville Municipal Center, Christian County High School, Heritage Christian Academy, Hopkinsville High School, or University Heights Academy. Applications are also available for download online at www.hoptown.org/summer
